Pep Guardiolas Second Season in the City of Blue
Manchester City had a precarious 2016/17 season in the English Premier League. After coming in with high hopes and not providing, it is safe to say Pep Guardiola has really turned around the ship this year to what everyone can agree was a very successful season. Although Pep’s coaching abilities are renowned around the world, his ability to spend his money wisely and prioritizing particular games really captured the encompassment in the season that has just currently been played.
In 2016/17 Pep Guardiola was criticized on how he was unable to convert the considerable dollar amounts into winning games. One of the biggest issues with the previous season was how the new coach spent his money. Leading up to the 2017/18 season. Guardiola spent $200 million and from the word of the critic himself it would now be his fault if the season does not work (Brooke, 2017). Pep has such extravagant ways and he sure did silence all the doubters. Unarguably Manchester City used the money spent on the new fullbacks, center backs and midfielders and converted them into a very lucrative season. Guardiola has been known as the transfer window maestro and to everyone’s agreement he showed just that in the transfer window of 2017/18.
