DBQ: Byzantine Empire Under Justinian
Emperor Justinian revived the Byzantine Empire through his military triumphs, leader characteristics, and ecclesiastic polity and architectural activity. Justinian was the sixth century emperor, and the only one who established an aristocracy by choosing men of humble birth as his closest advisors; for he wanted to work with honest and true people. His inner craving caused him to aggressively expand the empire and restore the Byzantine Empire the prosperity comparable to the original Roman Empire. His leader characteristics lead him to become a powerful and driven emperor. As well as his ecclesiastic polity and architectural activity which gave the empire the opportunity to expand and have advanced works that astonish one to this day.
