Hera and Zeus were very much in love during "the rein of Kronos". The rein had lasted three hundred years. It is said by some that the marriage of Zeus and Hera was held in a place of the knosians. It is a place near the river Theren, a temple now stands there where the natives would recreate the marriage of Zeus and Hera as a play. (Dionysiaca 36.28)Kronos, Hera's father was the youngest of the Titans, and "the god of time as it affects human life". Afraid that he would be over thrown by his son he swallowed each of his children, but Rhea saved the youngest Zeus. Rhea, Hera's mother was the goddess of the female body. After Kronos had swallowed the first five babies she ran away to the mountains, and gave birth to Zeus. She lived with Zeus until he was old enough to become power hungry and dethrone his father.
