How Do People Learn? Assignment

When you are the teacher with a classroom full of kids, you have to be able to accommodate the student's best way of learning and grasping the content for later instructional times. There are three styles of ways of learning, visual, auditory, and kinesthetic & Tactile (VAKT). My experience with the three styles of learning is that I am an auditory and kinesthetic learner. I learn hands-on and by listening to the teacher or instructor. In this paper, I will provide you with information about the three styles of learning and ways they can be applied in the classroom for each child can retain the information given during instructional time.

Visual Learners can be broken into two sub-categories known as linguistic and spatial. A visual-linguistic learner likes to "learn through written language, such as reading and writing tasks." They like writing down important things such as directions and notes. When they write it down, they remember it better, and they prefer to be in a lecture because they can watch it and they pay better attention. As for visual-spatial learners, they like to learn with charts, visual materials, and demonstrations. They have trouble with written language but can remember information by visualizing it through the process of imagination. Ways a teacher could incorporate this style of learning in the classroom by "using graphs, charts, illustrations, or other visual aids; Emphasizing key points to cue when to take notes; including plenty of content in handouts to reread after the learning session; leave white space in handouts for note-taking." Auditory learners learn through speaking and hearing information that is being provided to them. Auditory learners often talk to themselves; they also like to read aloud or move their lips when completing a task. "They often do better talking to a colleague or a tape recorder and hearing what was said....
