How does Boyce use symbolism in his book Millions?
Introduction
In this essay, I plan to explain what symbols are and how the author Boyce uses symbolism in his book symbolism I will identify and describe five main characters in his book; saints, birds, money, tinted moisturizer, and cooking. The definition of symbolism is the use of symbols to represent ideas or qualities.
Saints
The symbol of the saints represents Damian's thoughts and how he resolves things because almost every one of the problems he faces because depending on whether the saints are real or not; he mostly has a saint help to solve his problems. The saints are also a symbol of security for Damian because they greatly comfort him in the book.
Birds
Damian is always trying to be saintly with the birds, so he goes to a pet store with a large sum of money and buys loads of birds. He then leaves the field behind his house and sets them all free. I think this is a symbol of freedom because they appear several times in the book after that incident when Damien is feeling down. They are also a symbol of him moving on from his mum because the birds have already flown the nest,...
