General purpose: to inform.
Specific Purpose: the audience will know what initially attracts tourists to St. Joseph, what activities the bluff has to offer, and the seasonal events that take place throughout the city.
Central Idea: The audience will know why tourists are attracted to St. Joseph, Michigan.
When you think about summer what is the first thing that comes to mind? Do you enjoy playing a round of golf? Touring a winery? Or paddle boarding on the lake? Well if you enjoy those things, then allow me to share my hometown with you. I will now share with you why tourists are attracted to St. Joseph, what activities the bluff has to offer, and the seasonal events that take place throughout the city.
A) Poised on top of a bluff along the Lake Michigan shore, sits one of Michigan’s most beautiful beach towns.
I. There is something for everyone here, most tourists that come to visit throughout the summer enjoy spending the day at Silver Beach. Here you can find enough activities to entertain you and your family all day long.
II. According to Southwest Michigan’s website, since 2005 the Third Cost Surf Shop has made it their mission to make surfing and water recreation possible on the Great lakes year-round.
III. There is also fishing charters and boat cruises that take you on tour out on the lake. This is a great way to check out the shoreline and is a fun, simple way to entertain a large group of people.
IV. In addition, a lot of tourists come into town to play a round of golf at Harbor Shores or to watch the Senior PGA. According to USA Today, this course was initially built to create more jobs and to enhance the community and they have done just that. Harbor Shores announced that the Senior PGA will be hosted there every other year until 2024
