INTRODUCTION
THE ABOVE NAMED SCHOLARSHIP WAS ESTABLISHED BY ANNABELLE S. JAFFE IN MEMORY OF HER HUSBAND, DR. LOUIS S. JAFFE WHO DIED ON JULY 24TH, 1977, AND HER SON, BARRY S. JAFFE, WHO DIED ON JUNE 2, 2011.
DR. LOUIS JAFFE WAS A SCIENTIST WHO, AFTER RETIRING FROM CIVIL SERVICE, BECAME A PROFESSOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AT GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, WHERE HE WORKED UNTIL HE PASSED AWAY.
BARRY JAFFE, WHO WORKED FOR THE MARRIOTT CORPORATION FOR MORE THAN TWENTY YEARS, DIED OF CANCER.
ANNABELLE S. JAFFE, A SCHOOL COUNSELOR IN THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM FOR 50 YEARS, THE LAST 47 BEING AT WHEATON HIGH SCHOOL, RETIRED FROM WHEATON ON JULY 1, 2012. SINCE HER HUSBAND WAS A SCIENTIST, AND HER SON DIED OF CANCER, MRS. JAFFE WANTED TO DEDICATE THIS SCHOLARSHIP TO THOSE STUDENTS WHO ARE PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN BIOSCIENCE AND IN THE FIELD OF MEDICINE.
THUS, FOR THE NEXT TEN YEARS, BEGINNING IN THE SPRING OF 2013, TWO STUDENTS ATTENDING WHEATON HIGH SCHOOL , WILL BE SELECTED FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP EACH YEAR, ONE A SENIOR BOY AND THE OTHER A SENIOR GIRL. THE VALUE OF EACH SCHOLARSHIP WILL BE $1000.

2. COUNSELOR RECOMMENDATION LETTER.
3. SUBMISSION OF LAST YEAR’S PARENTS’ FEDERAL TAX FORM 1040.
4. TRANSCRIPT OF STUDENT’S GRADES FROM GRADE 9 THROUGH FIRST SEMESTER OF GRADE 12. (MINIMUM OF 3.00 UNWEIGHTED G.P.A.).
