John Paul Jones Film Review

John Paul Jones was a well-known commander in the American Revolutionary War. Jones went to sea at the young age of 13 and, by the age of 21, became a very skilled navigator and the captain of his ship sailing between the West Indies and British ports. Jones joined the Navy during the American Revolution; he was very skilled at making strategies that helped best his enemies and very quickly became well-known for his skills. The director of John Paul Jones, Mr. John Farrow, wanted to show people the success of hard work, how dominant our military power is, how far we have developed, and how everyone can become great.

John Farrow, The director of "John Paul Jones," initially released on June 16, 1959, was a well-known film director, producer, and screenwriter. Farrow started writing while working as a sailor when he became interested in screenwriting. Over the years of him working in Hollywood, he was Awarded two Oscar nominations, which he won of them, and His own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

This movie goes over the life of Mr. Jones and how he developed as a person. At the beginning of the film, you see a 12-year-old boy with a dream of heading to sea; although you might think that is not significant at the start, you would be wrong. I believe that the director wanted to show that to make younger kids realize that even they can become great someday, and in a way, this was the main point of the movie. To show people (mainly kids) that everyone can be significant and become a part of our history.
After killing a man, which he believed was self-defense, he was told to run away to his hometown before Jones is put to jail, and that is when he changed his name to John Paul Jones, adding the Jones at the end. When he returned to his hometown, he hired Patrick Henry to be his attorney, and this was the connection that led to his first command.
