Organization and Leadership Evaluation

Organization Description
According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, CrossFit is defined as a brand name for a fitness program that includes many different types of exercise such as interval training, lifting weights, and gymnastics. In many ways, CrossFit focus on a well-rounded approach to achieving optimal fitness and physical preparedness. CrossFit is used to train and enhance ten main physical qualities including flexibility, stamina, strength, power, agility, speed, cardiovascular endurance, coordination, accuracy, and balance. CrossFit incorporates movements from various disciplines including gymnastics, weightlifting, sprinting, and other high-intensity activities.

Greg Glassman, a young gymnast, originally developed the idea of CrossFit. Glassman had the desire to become significantly stronger than those he was competing against. He made the discovery that by using a dumbbell and a barbell during routine workouts, he could gain strength much faster than the other gymnasts. In late 1995, Glassman established the first CrossFit gym in Santa Cruz, California. During that same year, Glassman joined the Santa Cruz Police Department as a full-time officer. At the same time, Glassman began private training with individual clients. Soon enough, however, this became too demanding with his already hectic work schedule. He began training two clients at a time. In turn, he made the same amount of profit and saved hours of training time. Glassmans clients also enjoyed the group activity. As a result, the CrossFit community was born. The first official CrossFit gym was established in Seattle in 2000. Today, there are 3,400 affiliates worldwide.

Steven is a CrossFit instructor in Coatesville, PA. This particular CrossFit location was established officially in May 2015. Steven opened up this gym with his business partner, John, who is currently serving on active duty overseas. Steven was inspired to open up a CrossFit gym after he himself became a member of one. After college, Steven moved to Philadelphia and gained a significant amount of weight. Determined to begin a healthier lifestyle, he joined his first CrossFit gym. Although intimidated at first, Steven quickly learned to truly enjoy CrossFit. Steven loved the team atmosphere and was inspired by the other members. Everyone supported and pushed each other, which he truly admired. Soon enough, Steven was in the best shape of his life. He began eating lean and spent much of his free time in the box as CrossFit enthusiasts refer to the gym.

Unfortunately, Steven soon found out he was being relocated for his job and knew that he was going to have to leave his newfound passion and all of the friends he met along the way. Instead of simply joining another Box Steven decided to look into opening his own CrossFit gym. Steven pitched the idea to his long-time childhood friend, John, who was about to be deployed. John, who had never even been ins...
