Two years after the infamous riots in Los Angeles took place, the Newark Riots of 1967 took place in Newark, New Jersey. It lasted five days, from July 12 through July 17. The riots were definitely anticipated, as there was tension due to the lack of employment for African Americans. African Americans had inadequate housing, police exclusion, and police brutality as a result of the government. The collective memory of this event has a direct correlation to the development of equality today.

Despite the sometimes inaccurate information, it is incredible to see how drastically media has changed over time. Our society as a whole is reliant on the media's swift and efficient ways of generating news in an easily accessible manner.
