Welcome to APA PERRLA. If you are seeing this screen for more than a couple of seconds, then the software is not running properly.Read everything here, step-by-step, and we'll try to get that fixed for you.1. If you are being asked for the Project Template Password, then there is a problem with your installation of Word. You will need to reinstall Word and then APA PERRLA should run well. (This is true even if Word seems to be running without problems at other times.)2. Look up in the left corner of this window. It should say:APA PERRLA Startup - Microsoft WordIf that is what it says, then click (or hold down the Ctrl key and click) here, or scroll down to the second page.If it says something else besides Microsoft Word (WordPad, WordPerfect, Word Reader, etc.), then that is the problem. As it says at our website where ...view middle of the document...
If you're not sure whether you have Microsoft Word…Then, using your mouse, you must right-click (use the other mouse button you don't normally use) the PERRLA Pencil on your Desktop, select Open With, and then select Microsoft Word. If Microsoft Word is not there as a choice, then you don't have it or it is not properly installed. If you don't have Microsoft Word, then stop here. The following information won't help you.You should have seen the following warning when you clicked on the PERRLA Pencil.APA PERRLA runs using macros. Word warns you about the macros and you must ENable them for APA PERRLA to work. To do that, you must check the box at the bottom of the warning for to Always trust macros from this source . Then you will be able to Enable Macros and APA PERRLA will run without problems.(If you are unable to check the box, you may be on a computer [usually at work] where the ability to accept macros has been disabled. If that is the case, you will have to check with the IS department.)For Word 2007 Users… To enable macros in Word 2007, click the Microsoft Office button, (there should be options that come up) one of them is Word Options, click on that. Click on Trust Center, then Trust Center Settings, then click on Add-Ins (some Word 2007 have this) if you do not, then click on Enable Macros.Simply close this document and open it again checking the appropriate box and clicking on the appropriate button. If you did not see this box, then there may be something wrong with your version or installation of Word. You can try lowering your security. Go now to the menu bar in this document. Click on Tools and then select Macros. Select Security and change the security level to Low. Now close the document and double-click the PERRLA Pencil again.
