Known for his surrealistic and humorous paintings, Marc Chagall, a French painter, has grown to be one of the most significant painters and graphic artists in the twentieth century.Marc Chagall was born July 7, 1887 in Vitsyebsk, Russia. Chagall grew up one of nine children in a Jewish family. Even though both of his parents worked Chagall's family was fairly poor. His mom worked in a grocery store and his dad worked in a packing plant. Both parents worked as much as they could to make enough money to support their family. Chagall had a lot of time on his hands when one day a friend showed Chagall some drawings and he was amazed. Chagall then knew what he wanted to do in his life.
