“Heart over Height”
My first time stepping on a football field was scary. I was one of the smallest players on the field, so it was a big step in life for me to play a dangerous sport like football with players way bigger than I was. Fortunately, as I got older, I matured and started to realize that size didn’t matter. I had just learned about the David and Goliath story in the Bible. David was an average size adult, but he was very small compared to Goliath which I could relate to at the time because I was so small compared to other players. When I was told that David was brave enough to take down Goliath, something inside me clicked and said, “Heart over Height”.
I was very young when I first realized I wanted to play football. When I played out in the yard with my cousins, I always wanted to play QB (Quarterback) but I had to play WR (Wide Receiver). I hated to play wide receiver. It wasn’t bad, but playing wide receiver, which is what I play now, we did not always get the ball. When I didn’t get the ball, I just stood there, which was not thrilling as a kid, because I loved to be the center of attention.
