a. Hay muchas implicaciones debido a las diferencias entre las operaciones de servicio y fabricación. Por ejemplo, en una empresa de servicios, dado que el grado de contacto con los clientes es alto, debemos asegurarnos de que los empleados estén mejor capacitados en el servicio al cliente que los empleados en una industria manufacturera. En una empresa de la industria de servicios puros, generaremos mucha holgura en la programación debido a la incertidumbre de la información.
b. Las innovaciones pueden estar relacionadas con productos o servicios, o relacionadas con procesos. Estos típicamente implican un costo y tiempo adicionales para capacitación y posiblemente nuevos cambios en equipos o equipos, y cambios potenciales para la cadena de suministro (por ejemplo, nuevos proveedores, nuevos requisitos de entrega, etc.).
