An organization my say they are following one particular culture but in reality, they may practice another. The culture of an organization includes the language, dress codes, value systems, a code of ethics, and principles. A good example is the culture at a local manufacturing plant. In the production line, there is no differentiation between the managers, engineers and the shop floor workers uniforms, they all dress the same. This eliminates the distinction between the blue collared and white collared workers, therefore, no categorizing. (Schermerhorn, Hunt, and Osborn Wiley, 2005)Organizational culture includes values, norms and behavior in which employees and management both believes in describes how people differ in such respects as sex, race, age, physical ability, and ethnicity. In this day and age, workforce diversity has become an essential business concern. There is no company that can afford to unnecessarily restrict its ability to attract and retain the very best employees available, no matter what their age, race, or sex may be. (Schermerhorn, Hunt, Osborn Wiley, 2005)Communication is the process or sending and receiving messages with attached meanings. These messages can be communicated in several ways, face to face, email, telephone, or letters. Communication can be improved, but doing so is not always an easy process. It requires time, will, and motivation. Good communication requires one to think very deliberately and very consciously about something that can be easily accomplished with almost no attention whatsoever, and that's speaking. People need to remember that the person facing them may not share the same knowledge or the same way of speaking.
