Fascisme
· La politique expansionniste italienne, dirigé par Mussolini, utilisait une approche fasciste plus claire des années précédentes.
· Glorification de la guerre, poursuite d’une expansion militaire/impériale, s’éloigner de la diplomatie et de la coopération.
· À cette période, les méthodes de Mussolini sont devenus plus assertives et il devint plus agressif diplomatiquement.
· S’est éloigné de la bonne relation de l’Italie avec la grande Bretagne et se rapprocha à l’Allemagne de Hitler.
· Ceci mena l’Italie dans une série d’accords Italo-Germain, et son entrée dans la seconde guerre mondiale en 1940 comme alliée de l’Allemagne.
· Démonstration de pouvoir.
· Renoncer à l’humiliation des politiques étrangères précédentes.

Problèmes Économiques
· L’Italie était affecté par la Grande Dépression.

· En raison de la crise économique, Mussolini devait distraire le public italien des problèmes économiques internes du pays en favorisant l’esprit « révolutionnaire » qu’il partageait avec le fascisme.
· La politique étrangère devrait maintenait être plus dynamique et plus inspirante.
· Affaiblissement.
· À partir de 1936, l’économie italienne fut encore affaiblit par l’importance accordée par Mussolini à l’autarcie et au cout des guerres. Ainsi, des facteurs économiques internes peuvent avoir été un facteur dans la décision de Mussolini d’envahir l’Abyssinie.
· La position géographique de l’Italie joue un rôle également. Les ressources de l’Abyssinie aideront la situation économique.
· L’Abyssinie a été ciblée afin de gagner du territoire pour l’émigration et de fournir un marché d’exportation pour les produits italiens. Mussolini espérait aussi trouver du pétrole.
