ROCKRock Music is essentially a group of related music styles that have conquered popular music in the West since about 1955. Rock music began in the United States, but it has influenced and in turn been fashioned by an extensive field of cultures and musical traditions, including gospel music, the blues, country-and-western music, classical music, folk music, electronic music, and the popular music of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. In adding to its use as a broad term, the idiom rock music commonly refers to music styles after 1959 largely influenced by white musicians. Elvis' five Sun singles pioneered the blend of R&B and C&W that would characterize rockabilly music. For many of his early fans and music critics alike, they remain not only Elvis' best singles, but the best rock & roll ever recorded. The claim that Elvis made blues acceptable for the white market is not the whole picture; the singles regularly teamed blues covers in the midst of country and pop ones, all made into rock & roll. When couching tribute in specific terms, it's tough to convey the extent of the Beatles' achievements in a measly paragraph or two. They synthesized all that was good about early rock & roll, and changed it into something original and even more exciting. Some of the early rockabilly artists along with Elvis on the Sun label were Carl Perkins, Charlie Feathers, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Warren Smith, and Billy Lee Riley. Some famous artists on other labels were: Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Johnny Burnette and Ricky Nelson.A personality unique to rockabilly music is perhaps the simplicity of it. Rockabilly has the form of rock music, and for sure it was the true beginning of rock and roll music as we know it today. Most of it lies within the instruments. An acoustic rhythm guitar, electric guitar and stand up bass. Today drums are usually added to the typical rock bands arsenal.I chose rock music out of personal interest. I am predominantly fond of present rock artists such as Aerosmith, Metallica, System of the Down, Alice in Chians, and Audioslave... as well as old school artists such as The Beatles, Elvis, The Beach Boys, Buddy Holly, The Drifters, The Four Tops, etc.
