Euthanasia should be legalized. No one should have to experience their body disintegrate if they do not want to. Euthanasia is controversial because suicide is involved, but little do we realize that there are some things we do everyday that help us commit slow suicide. Euthanasia is also extremely beneficial to the health-care system. As free individuals, having so many rights, why shouldnt we have the right to determine when to terminate our lives? Why then are we so disapproving of euthanasia? It is a fact that eating harmful foods and/or smoking, doing drugs and drinking alcohol are all forms of slow suicide, suicide by allowance. Such activities end up with the same results as euthanasia, death. So euthanasia may shorten peoples lives, but some of the normal things we do shorten our lives a lot more.Thirdly, euthanasia is beneficial to the health care system. When we are aware that a person is terminal, we know they will die, but we keep asking them for check-ups and visits to the doctor. That costs money. Patients who have been in comas for the past 25 years are using a bed and life-support equipment. That costs money. These patients are using beds that are better utilized by people who have a greater chance of recovery.
