I address this speech to all those sitting in the audience without a heart.
How do you live with yourself? Are you completely ignorant or do you choose to be completely insensitive to all those who are not white Australians? Yes, we all love our country, our beautiful country of “sizzling snags” and supposed multiculturalism. However, there is a point where you take your nationalism too far and let your narrow opinions prevent you from realising the truth, veering very close to the personality of a racist. Australia Day, or better known as Invasion Day, is founded on blood-shed, a genocide of those who came before us, destruction of lives and a blooming culture. Do you really believe this to be the most appropriate day of celebration? I sure don’t.
Individuals from the indigenous community have been desperately trying to make Australians aware of the emotional impact that comes hand in hand with this day and yet, you sit here with your ears blocked. You gather with all your mates, adorn the Australian flag and marinate in your lack of conscience, whilst indigenous Australian’s are left to mourn over their loss in silence. You shut down those, who are largely trapped in a world of poverty, and that are telling you they are deeply hurting. How entitled can you be?

Just imagine if all of your ancestors were murdered, simply for existing, because tougher, greedier men came in and wanted what you had. That doesn’t really make me want to host a barbeque.
And just to show you how really ignorant you are, were you aware that the date does not actually commemorate a significant moment in Australia’s British settlement? The date...
