Teen Violence: Causes and Preventions
Teen Violence is a major problem in present day and it happening all over the world but mostly in the U.S. It has been the hot topic in the news for example the florida shooting that just happened February 14th where 17 people were killed including teens and adults all because some teenager with supposed problems and parental issues shot up the school. There are various causes and preventions to teen violence. Some causes are: severe trauma, not being properly supervised by parents, abuse from parents or even family or the significant other.
One major cause of teen violence is is lack of parental guidance and supervision. This is major because when kid is growing up they need to be taught right from wrong and that counts in the teenage years also because if a teen does not get the proper discipline they will turn out to be a monster of many things. According to Denise Witmer from the “verywellfamily”’;[;’ it states that “When parents do not take an active role in their teens life, teens go out of control.
They make friends with the wrong people, they don't strive to do their best in school.” And this is telling me that some parents feel as though they don't need to supervise their children and that they can just leave them at home and go out and leave the children to “raise themselves” when that’s the worst thing you can do to a child. According to my research children need attention because when they don’t have attention they feel as though they need to act out to get it. And child neglect can lead to even more serious things that we don’t need. Another cause of teen violence is traumatic events that can happen to a child maybe at a young age or currently in their teens. According to “verywellfamily” it states that “Dealing with traumatic events can cause violent behavior in teens. For instance if a teen loses a friend in a car accident that they were also involved in they could get angry that they’re the one...
