There are many ways to create a film and people all around the world are always wondering what is the best way to do it. Many film artist believe in different in ways and theories to make something wonderful happen. A lot things go into making a film such as details of th story, lighting, camera motion, and so on but there is always curiosity of who should be in charge of all of this and that is where different theories come into play. The question is, what theory is the best? I am a truly believer that the Auteur theory created by Andrew Sarris is the best theory to create a film.
The Auteur theory is so unique to me because anything is possible to happen from a director eyes. Now everyone in the world has different eyes and a different mindset, every great director don't have the same eyes and brain so anything is bound to happen while creating a film. The article, Andrew Sarris Notes on the Auteur Theory in 1962, says that "the way a film looks and moves should have some relationship to the way director thinks and feels"(562). The director should be in control because his or her vision is the primary vison in making a film. Music works the same way, however a musician is feeling is how a song is made. Of course, the director has to be a good director, I once heard a great director has to be a good director
A movie I chose watch is Bad Boys 2 which is directed by Michael Bay. I realize that Michael Bay films have similarities and that no one but him can do as good because that is the way he feels. The movie has scenes where the camera is entering walls, doors, and windows like nothing there. This illuminate the film because it makes the audience feel like they're in the movie without 3D. According to Andrew Sarris Notes on the Auteur Theory in 1962 "the third and ultimate premise of th auteur theory is concerned with interior meaning, the ultimate glory of the cinema as an art. Interior meaning is extrapolated from the tension between a director's personality and his material"(562)....
