2) There is no sound evidence to support a casual relationship between excess caloric intake and the development of obesity, yet virtually all outpatient treatment for obesity are based on strategies to reduce caloric intake. 3) It is time for a new paradigm in weight management that focuses primarily on reducing the percentage of calories in the diet from fat, and on increasing the level of physical activity.The key concepts we need to understand in this article are 1) the determinants of obesity need to be evaluated and taken into consideration before opting to change it by simply reducing caloric intake. 2) Caloric reduction is not a guaranteed not healthy (physically, emotionally) way to lose weight. 3) Excercise and decreasing fat consumption are important in weight loss and management.I did not find any disturbances in the authors thinking considering the fact that I have heard all of this before. This article was supported by a numerous amount of research and fact, and above all, it simply makes sense.If we fail to take this line of reasoning seriously, the implications are that people will not understand obesity, and the problems that it caused, and the number of obese individuals will continue to rise.This article is looking at weight control problems that face people who are obese and seeing it from the point of view of a person who is interested in helping people become "healthy" and maintain it.
