Instagram
Social media sites such as Instagram are changing the way next generation humans interact with one another. Social media platforms allow for the newest generation of individuals to become social and at the same time individualistic. Nicholas Carrs’s essay, “Is Google Making Us Stupid?”, is a near replica of ideas about how inventions (social medias) help contribute to the dullness of intelligence of future generations. Judith Newman’s essay “To Siri with Love: How One Boy with Autism Became BFF with Apple’s Siri”, however, takes on a more positive perspective when it comes to apps like Siri. She sees apps being beneficial to some kids health and wellbeing because it allows them to help better their communication skills and promote themselves. A final perspective, Eula Bliss’s “Time and Space Overcome,” puts a twist on how telephones were used back as lynching items during the 20th century and infers that the invention was not the problem, yet the people using it were. Today social media apps such as Instagram create a lot of controversy with social skills to the future generations. However, apps like Instagram may help solve to technologies notable image. A method to help differentiate the actual meaning of social media.
Instagram is a social networking app made for sharing photos and videos from a smartphone. Similar to Facebook or Twitter, everyone who creates an Instagram account has a profile and a news feed. People use Instagram to advertise, connect, and network to other users. College and Universities for example use Instagram to educate and inform locals/students about all things associated with that particular school. From sporting events to clubs it all could be found somewhere in that Instagram profile for you to access. For us teenagers and young adults, we like using the app to discover who and what types of things are trending or what our favorite movie star is up to today. In Judith Newman’s essay “To Siri with Love: How One Boy with Autism Became BFF with Apple’s Siri”, Newman states how certain types of apps like Siri are “oddly comforting as well as chummy..” (Newman 456). Instagram is just like this quote. It allows people to find things out through different weird ways while making them feel a sense of warmth.
Within these beauties of Instagram, handlers might express diverse emotions such as positivity and love through different pictures or quotes. For example, if you were really having a bad day and you just need a little something to pick you up, all you have to do is look on Instagram for a page that has nothing but positive vibes. There are countless amounts of pages and post to help anyone feel better and rebound from any situation possible such as a breakup or family member passing.
