Youth Essay About The Youth In South Africa - Grade 10 Life Orientation - Essay

505 words - 3 pages

Zea Tongeman is a 16 year old girl currently living in England who is changing the world and saving our environment through technology. She has designed an app that helps and motivates people to recycle. This is a perfect example of the fact that the world can be changed by it’s youth. I truly believe that the youth can use the tools available to them in this day and age to truly make an impact and change the world.
Tongeman is a student at St Saviours and St Olaves in Elephant and Castle. She references to Mary Poppins when interviewed about her app “'You find the fun and it becomes a game,' and that is exactly what our app does”. All this does seem amazing and truly revolutionary in the ongoing battle to get people to recycle regularly.
The app basically works like this: it tells you which places you can recycle at near you, and gives you rewards for recycling and even allows you to share your achievement on various social media sites such as Instagram, twitter and Facebook. Zea hopes this will motivate people to see recycling as something to be proud of and to even convince your friends to start recycling when they see you doing it. As with most projects taken on by youth people argue that it w...
