A Good Man Is Hard to Find In "A Good Man is Hard to find" by Flannery O'Connor, one is struck by the unexpected violence at the end of the story. However, if the story is read a second time, the reader can examine certain signs of foreshadowing that hints to the ending of the story. O'Connor's technique of strong imagery to foreshadow the people and the events in the story is very compelling. There are three significant times that she uses this technique. The two ironic ones are when the grandmother states that she believes they shouldn't go to Florida because they may run into the misfit and when she states she would never lead her children into his direction. The symbolic foreshadowing in the story happens when they pass the graveyard. O'Conner uses strong symbols and images that allow you to predict the inevitable death of the family.
