The historical fiction, The Great Gatsby was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Our narrator, Nick Carraway, rents a small house on Long Island bears his cousin Daisy. His neighbor, Jay Gatsby, is a self -made millionaire, who was living a high life through his involvement in criminal activism. He always throws infamous parties and Nick eventually gets invited to one. Carraway learns that Daisy and Gatsby were once in love but she didn’t wait for his return from the war and married another named Tom. Nick host a tea party for Gatsby and Daisy remeet. Daisy’s impressed of Gatsby’s fortunes and their relation as hip reignites. Daisy’s husband, Tom is already involved in an affair with Myrtle, a garage man’s wife, but he gets jealous and reveals the truth about Gatsby to Daisy, dropping her interest in him. Myrtle is involved in an accident and Tom puts the blame on him. Nick watches as Gatsby is destroyed by his own past and parents choices leading to his murder by the garage-man for revenge.
This story is centralized around the pursuit and love for wealth. Every character is money-obsessed, whether they were born with money (Tom, Daisy, Jordan and Nick), whether they made their fortune (Gatsby), or if they’re eager for more (Myrtle and George). This unhealthy addiction for money to fulfill their view in the American had some shadows of evils. ...
