Araby
In the story, Araby, the narrator’s desperate attempt to get the girl’s attention involved a few things that changed his character as a person.
First of all, the narrator seemed to have been focused and driven, living each day as the previous day until he saw a young lady on the doorstep in his neighborhood that really caught his eye. This girl happened to be his friend’s sister and he became obsessed with her. This obsession caused him to lose focus as a student and he also became very anxious. The reason for the anxiety was because he was timid and would not have a clue what to say to her if she ever entertained a conversation with him.
After having a conversation with the girl, the narrator finds out that she is interested in going to the Araby, which is the town’s bazaar but cannot due to a meeting she had to attend. After finding out in the conversation that she really wanted to go, he offered to bring her a gift back from the bazaar.
