Ian Murdock to be Remembered at FOSDEM 2016

by Ostatic Staff - Jan. 28, 2016

The Debian Publicity team is planning to hold a memorial for founder Ian Murdock who tragically took his own life December 28 after altercations with police. The event will take place during FOSDEM this coming weekend. The team has been collecting pictures, stories, and video in order to compile a short video for the event in Brussels, Belgium Saturday.

A representative from the publicity team asked for material from those who knew and worked with Murdock to be included in a short 1-2 minute video. The video will be presented at the Free and Open Source Software Developers' European Meeting January 30 at 18:00. It will be accompanied by words from friends and acquaintances. Martin Michlmayr will be hosting the event in the Janson room of the Brussels Marriott Hotel. If you're planning to be at FOSDEM this year, you may want to make time for that. Live streaming is available for the event as well.
