Paper On North Korea

784 words - 4 pages

What often comes to mind when I think about North Korea is nuclear weapons, dictatorship and poverty. This may not be far from the truth, but I have no evidence to confirm that these are the most redeeming traits of this country. North Korea has made it clear they are a threat to the United State with nuclear capacities. Unfortunately I believe because of their isolation and threats against the US there is a lot of statements made about the country that may be over exaggerated. Considering North Korea does not allow many outsiders into the country, it would be right to assume we may not know everything about them. Therefore U. S. citizens have developed the idea that North Korea is inherently evil and knows nothing more than that they have made threats against the their country.

Since school first mentioned North Korea I have heard only than that they are a threat to the U. S that might have the capacity to kill us all with nuclear weapons. I have heard speculation from peers that the next war we will enter will be with North Korea. I have turned on the TV only to hear that North Korea has tested another rocket launching it into the ocean. I cannot help but fear that one day I will turn on the news and hear that one of those rockets have hit U. S soil. Unfortunately it seems the news now only seems to report on the updates of their nuclear program. I can't imagine U. S. media is strewing this information terribly out of proportion, but without doubt their are details involving the accomplishments of the country are often left out. It would make sense for the U. S. government to want the people to have a negative views about a country they feel is a threat. It would also make sense for North Koreans to have a negative outlook on us seeing as the North Korean government also sees the U. S as a threat. The problem is no matter where you seem to get your news source it is biased in one direction or another.

When looking into North Korea's advertisements of the country they paint a very different picture. Pictures of koreans laughing, enjoying their lives, having successful businesses and large impressive structures. North Korea has e...
