What FFA Means to Me
To me, FFA is so much more than just “sows, cows, and plows”. The National FFA Organization is an organization that is focused on developing skills as well as opening doors, that students otherwise might not have known existed. FFA gives students the tools to develop themselves into future adults that have the potential to do great things in not only the agriculture world, but in everyday life.
I like to think of myself as the stereotypical FFA member. I have been raised in a very rural town in which my family has been very active in the agricultural industry. I live on roughly six hundred acres of land that we farm peanuts and cotton along with raising one hundred head of market cattle. Not to mention, the horses, goats, and chickens we have too. So, to say that I have been sheltered from the great industry of agriculture would be completely false. But, when I first zipped in my corduroy FFA jacket, I would have never guessed that I would have been becoming a part of something so much bigger than myself. I would be blindly going into an organization that I would fall in love with, an organization that would show me that there is so much more to FFA than just “sows, cows, and plows”, an organization that would connect me with so many amazing people not only around the state of Flori...
