CodeWeavers to Offer CrossOver For Free On Tuesday

You might recall that several weeks ago Jeremy White, president and CEO of CodeWeavers, promised to had out free licenses for the popular commercial version of Wine if at least one of a handful of (seemingly) unlikely economic goals CodeWeavers set were met before President George. W. Bush left the White House.

Surprisingly, one of those goals has been met. Gas prices have dropped below $2.79 a gallon in the Twin Cities and that means free software for everyone tomorrow at CodeWeavers.

White says he "underestimated" Bush. "How was I to know that President Bush would take my challenge so seriously? And, give the man credit, I didn't think there was any way he could pull it off. But engineering a total market meltdown -- wow -- that was pure genius."

In White's typical humorous fashion, he issued a statement today saying, "That morning, I was filling my tank at Big Steve's Gas Palace in St. Paul. I had just finished my morning corn dog and 64-ounce Dr. Pepper when I looked at the pump and noticed gas was at $2.79. I screamed ‘Woohoo,' then I yelled ‘Oh, crap!' as I realized every American can now have my software for free. Kind of upsets my fourth quarter revenue projections..."

Visitors to the CodeWeaver site tomorrow will receive a promotional code entitling them to one free copy of CrossOver and will include complete support.

Apparently a glutton for punishment, CodeWeavers will provide free software each time President Bush meets another goal. Remaining goals include returning the stock market to it's 2008 level, lower the price of a gallon of milk, and improve the median home price.
