OStatic Offers 12 Months of Free Hosting for Java Developers

by Ostatic Staff - Aug. 21, 2008

The open source world provides several technology choices for developers looking to build web-based applications. Java developers aiming to work on the open source application server Glassfish now have some free infrastructure they can leverage. OStatic is offering 100 free hosted accounts to developers looking to build web applications powered by the open source Glassfish Application Server and the open source MySQL database.

For 12 months, you'll have access to a server in the cloud that contains:

  •  1/16th of a quad-core CPU
  •  512 MB RAM
  •  50 GB of storage
  •  Unmetered bandwidth data transferring
  • Pre-installed and configured Glassfish and MySQL

This is a $1,000 value, and since the accounts are limited, we only request that that you actively use your cloud computing environments for web applications built on Glassfish. We will be offering several more such programs for various other technologies in the near future. If you do release any of your applications back into the open source world, we ask that you list them in the OStatic directory and we will feature the popular ones.

So, how do you take advantage of this?

You can find more information about the promotion here. Essentially, you just need to quickly create an OStatic account and accumulate 400 points on the site.

The Glassfish and MySQL project pages contain more information on these technologies.

We sincerely hope you find this useful and would love to get your feedback on this promotion and similar promotions you would like to see in the future. Enjoy the cloud!

Please note that if you are a member of Sun’s Startup Essentials Program, you are automatically eligible for a similar promotion from their site.
