Perhaps the view of the U.S. entering WWI turned into most promising after the ripple effect of events after the sinking of the Lusitania. Each event made the United States weaker for entering the war and lastly there was no proper way to stay neutral. The instant cause of America's entry into World War I in April 1917 was the German announcement of unrestricted submarine warfare, and the following sinking of ships with Americans on board the Lusitania. The Zimmermann Telegram was a coded memo sent from German Foreign Minister Arthur Zimmermann to Germany's ambassador in Mexico, Heinrich von Eckhardt, in January 1917. The British was able to successfully intercept this coded memo and was able to translate it. Inside this secret memo, Zimmermann exposed Germany's plot to restart unrestricted submarine warfare as well as offered Mexico territory from the United States if Mexico were to declare war on the United States. The British intercepted the telegram and set its team of decoders to decrypt the telegram. By utilizing a captured German embassy codebook the British group was successful and delivered the contents of the telegram to the government who in return directed the details to the Unitd States President, Woodrow Wilson.The Russian Revolution is the sequence of revolutions in Russia in 1917, which ruined the Tsarist dictatorship and led to the formation of the Soviet Union.
