ARTIFICIAL INTELLIENCE
The development of technology has been so advanced that it has slowly taken over our lives.
From self-driving cars to a digital personal assistant - Siri, artificial intelligence is able to do what human is capable of. Scientists are thrilled to explore what other advantages is AI will be able to provide for us in the future. However, there are two sides to every story. Many famous and trustworthy people such as Stephen Hawking have given us multiple warnings of what AI can do. It is a common human behavior to want control over our lives. But in a world with AI, humanity will not coexist. The existents of AI in our world is similar to an invasive species, which is when a predator begins to compete with the APEX predator for dominance and control.
This competition will result in one species survival and many people have guessed that AI will lead to the demise of the human race.
Last year Stephen Hawking gave us a warning and a question that has left us thinking: are we taking AI seriously enough? The benefits are huge, probably the biggest event in human history but AI may also provide the eradication of war, disease and poverty percentages higher than ever before. If such technology can think and make abstract connections, then they can sure outsmart financial markets, out-inventing our researchers and out-manipulating our leaders because after all, many brilliant minds of scientists have come together to create this outrageous technology. If one robot equals 10 geniuses then how can we be sure if it is in our control? As Hawking mentioned "the short term impact of AI depends on who controls it, but the long-term impact depends on whether it can be controlled at all". Stephen Hawking has warned that since people would be unable to compete with an advanced AI, it could end the human race.
