A1) Greece and China
Greece is not only beautiful but also resourceful. The people of Greece used many different ways to get crops. Instead of being reliant on a few staple crops, the civilizations who flourished in Greece, they were able to focus on maritime trade (Acrobatiq, 2017). Maritime trade was focused on the Mediterranean Sea. Greece needed more crops and with this they were able to trade with other places. Greece had a surplus of grapes and olives. While trading they didnt have the easiest time. With rugged mountains and rocky soil, it was very hard to grow anything, but especially wheat. Greece then learned they had to trade in order to keep their crops up. China is full of interesting geographical features. One of them being Chinas Yellow and Yangtze rivers. The Yellow river in China was much like the settlement in Mesopotamia. Later they settled on the Yangtze river. The rivers would often flood, destroying farmland and irrigation systems. Farm animals and people would die as a result. One of the positives to living on the Yellow and Yangtze river was the soil was light, easy to plow, and rich. This soil was known as loess. With such fertile soil farmers were able to produce a sufficient amount of rice, millet, wheat and barley. Loess had mineral composition so it was highly prone to erosion. When the rivers flooded, farmlands lost tons of resources. (Acrobatiq, 2017)
B1) Cultural Characteristics
Both Greece and China had really interesting cultural characteristics. Greeks believed in establishing a writing system. The Greeks started with hieroglyphics, they would use this to keep track of outgoing food and supplies. They would also keep track of redistributing supplies. According to (Acrobatiq, 2017) the writing system from the Minoans is extremely hard to learn and to use. They would add in new symbols and change the system multiple times. They also added the Phoenician system which had 22 sounds as opposed to the Minoan system which had 60 phonetic signs. This became the back bone of the Greek language. The Greeks also believed in multiple gods. Greek religion drew from a mixture of Mycenaean, Minoan, and Indo-European. They called them Gods, Goddesses and Myths. The most important according to the Greeks was Twelve Olympians Named after Mount Olympus. They would all gather and call it Olympian to please the gods.
In China, they had Terracotta Soldiers. In China historian Sima Qian Shihuangdi, who was the first emperor in the Qin Dynasty (221-210 BCE) had his own mausoleum built after he took the throne. It took 700,000 men to complete the tomb and they also built the tomb to have cross bows automatically shoot arrows for any trespassers. The tomb was un-covered in 1974 by farmers who found 8,000 life sized soldiers, 130 chariots and 520 horses. All the men and horses were there to protect the emperor in his afterlife. China also had an item called Oracle Bone. Citizens in China believed that this bone could tell...
