Michael Hoffman's "Restoration" is a film that represents 17th century England, and what it was like to live in that time period. This film should be shown more regularly in this course because it can be used to teach students what the 17th century was like and also some history from that time. Even though this film is a fictional story, it is still historically accurate for this time in England.
Schools these days do not show enough films in their classes. Some movies, such as "Restoration", can be very educational and beneficial to students. If shown correctly, certain movies can grasp teen's attention and give them the extra knowledge that just reading from a textbook can't give you. "Movies can extend the learning beyond the textbook, sometimes a movie can really help students get a feel for an era or an event."[footnoteRef:1] That's what the movie "Restoration" achieves when shown because of the historical accuracy in the film. In this time in age, people believed that could actually prevent you from catching the plague while treating patients. The movie's accurate representation of the tools and techniques they used to treat plague victims in the 1600's can be greatly used to show teach students about this topic.
