Joshua
Everywhere we look, we can find someone who we consider to be a leader in different ways. Someone who obtains leadership has a few of the following qualities: qualified, capable, willing, successful, good character, ethical, humble, courageous, empathetic, educated, strong, and hard-working. In the Old Testament, Joshua was a commander, encourager, and loyal servant. He had the leadership qualities of humble, success, and willingness. Joshua was humble because he didn't boast about his accomplishments, he was successful because he completed all of the journeys, and he was willing to go above and beyond to be the leader God commanded him to be. He was considered a great leader because of those qualities he embodied.
By reading the title of Joshua 1, we already know Joshua is going to become a leader. The title of Joshua 1 is, "Joshua Installed as Leader." Joshua achieved his position after the death of Moses, who was also a servant to the Lord. Wikipedia shows when Joshua achieves his position by telling us, "Joshua was Moses' assistant and became the leader of the Israelite tribes after the death of Moses." According to LifeWay Women, "Joshua wasn't trying to become a leader." The Bible never shows Joshua trying to climb a ladder of success or attempt to be a leader, but he served as one because that was what God commanded him to do. Although he wasn't necessarily prepared to become a leader, he took the job and became one any way. This shows the quality of leadership, willing, because he was willing to help God even though he had no leadership experience. God prepared him by staying by his side and not leaving nor forsaking him. God reminds Joshua multiple times to be strong a courageous. In Joshua 1:7, God says to him, "Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go." Being strong and courageous are two qualities that every leader should have.
Joshua is used to further God's plan of leading the people to achieve the land they were promised. Moses picked Joshua to lead the people into the Promised Land because God had picked Joshua. In Joshua 1:6 God tells him, "Be strongand courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestorsto give them." The l...
