The Great Debaters: Questions to answer during the film (40 points)
Question 1. Do you believe education is the only way out? Explain your answer. I don’t think education is the only way out, simply because life always throws many paths in your way, and education is one of them.
Question 2. What is the difference between the resolve and the affirmative? An affirmative statement by affirmative team, they have to prove the truth of the resolution and affirmative is the side of the debate that argues for the change advocated in the proposition. During the debate, the affirmative side presents arguments and evidence to support the proposition.
Question 3. Explain what he means by “Your Words being your weapon.” He describes that words are your weapon because in debate it is combat, and that’s the only way you can attack your opponents.
Question 4. In today’s technological age, is it possible to write your own dictionary? Explain your answer. Yes, it is possible, we have numerous resources.
Question 5. Do you believe welfare discourages hard work? Explain your answer. He says that welfare takes away a mans need for survival, I also think it discourages hard work because when you are in a zone of comfort achieved through hard work, then eventually it will discourage.
