After reading this article, would you like to go back to how the African-Americans used to live? For the last few years the African-American people have finally got the same rights as the white people within communities. They used to be slaves and had no rights for what they fought for. We used to torture them because that’s what we thought was right. But now we are accepting them as any other person on the planet. Like the superstar LeBron James with his famous basketball career.
LeBron Janes ‘equality’ Nike shoes
LeBron James is an African-American basketball player. During his high school years he was the top basketball player in the country. Due to his athleticism, size and court vision he became one to the premier players in the NBA. He is signed several endorsement deals including the one with Nike of $9 million. He has other endorsements including Intel, Verizon, Coco-Cola, Beats by Dre, and Kia motors. Another major endorsement he has is with Nike Now which is where Nike gives away 400 limited pairs of sneakers that say ‘Equality’.
In the nineteen hundreds by being a dark skinned person you were considered a hurtful person in society as they were slaves before the 1900s, and in the 1900s they were let free from slavery and began to become citizens but even then they still didn’t have full recognition of their right, and their rights were still a long way off compared to the white people. The rights and economic fortunes for African American people changed dramatically during the twentieth century. In the 1940s fair employment practice committees came a big thing for the black and whites and contract compliance policies came out in the 1960s. This century of progress ended with considerable gaps remaining between the African Americans and white Americans in terms of income, unemployment, wealth and life expectancy.
In the book ‘To Kill a Mockingbird ’by Harper Lee, an African American male Tom Robinson had been accused for raping and beating a white woman, Mayella Ewell.
