Five trillion plastic bags used globally among which 400 billion of them end up in Australian landfills, taking about one thousand years to decompose, but only 5.2 percent were recycled. These are the figures plastic bags have produced every year. Human beings invented plastic bags for the convenience of carriers and packers. However, just as other great inventions, say, nuclear energy and biotechnology, plastic bags are causing serious issues like global warming, environment pollution and energy consumption. They are gradually becoming sword towards ourselves. Plastic bags are one of the most dangerous substances to our environment. It seems silly that plastic bags could do so much harm. You never would have guessed, right? Well, believe it or not, these bags contribute to environmental issues in several ways. Firstly, plastic bags litter the environment and end up polluting our beautiful mother nature. We are destroying our own planet and most people don’t even realize the harmful effects of these bags. They also overfill landfills, consuming the room that can be used to dispose other trash.
