Objective: Create a traffic light circuits by using the truth table as well as the usage of the block
diagram and mutisim. Also to be able to create the traffic light by coding(using the Arduino)
and/or Logic gates.
Introduction: In order to create the circuits we need to figure out the input and output of the
Logic gates(Nor gate and And gate were used) by using the truth tables to verify and theorize
that green only turns on when red and yellow are off and vise-versa .We also need to figure out
the variables needed for the 555 timer to time correctly make sure the light are 8 second for red 1
second for yellow and 7 second for green.
Circuit Simulation:
- Equipment:
- Resistors:
- 8x 330 ohm
- 1x 1k ohm
- 1x 10k ohm
- Batteries:
- 9 volt (In simulation is the 5v power supply)
- Resistors on Arduino Board:
- 8x 330 ohm
-
- 555 Timer
- 7402 Nor Gate
- 7408 And Gate
- 100 nF Capacitor
- 47 uF Capacitor
- Voltage regulator (5v) (if and only if a power supply higher than 5v is used)
- 6 LED
- Wires

- Observation:
- The results were as expected, like a traffic light junction. It was very messy
(wiring) at first, so we took some time working on making the cables as short and
as neat as possible. From our different attempts of organizing the cables, our multi
sim was helpful as we were able to manipulate each gate instead of having to deal
with a chipset.
- Diagnosing and Issues:
- Problems/Diagnosing or already diagnosed:
- Proper spacing and organization of the components of the wires
- Enhancements/Fixed issues:
- Better color coding with wires and more consistent led brightness
