On December 8, 2018 around 8:30 p.m., my wife and I were at St. Luke’s Hospital. We had just found out that our precious baby boy was coming to be with us. The doctors told us that we had to go in for an emergency c-section because they thought the umbilical cord was wrapped around his tiny neck. I was nervous and scared all at the same time. I was finally going to meet my son that I have always wanted. I was also frightened that I might lose my son.
The nurses took us to a really cold room that had shiny surgical tools, bright lights, a baby warmer, and six or seven doctors and nurses all dressed in blue gowns with blue masks coving their noses and mouths. The doctor cut my wife open with a scalpel just above her bikini line. The doctor started pushing on my wife’s belly and pulling on my son. The doctor lifts up my son and says, “Would you like to meet your son?” Xavier had black hair and it was really curly. He was a purple color and really chubby. The nurse took him to the baby warmer and that is where I got to trim his umbilical cord down. He weighed eight pounds and eleven ounces and he was nineteen inches long. He was the most adorable baby that I have ever met.
After a few months and the sleepless nights went by, I thought all the excitement was over until Xavier started learning new things.
