Identity What causes a person's identity? Is it their home, parents, religion, or maybe where they live? When do they get one? As people's dreams and goals are accomplished their identities will change with the individual. Identity starts with your family. Your family will be there with you for a long time and they will have a impact on what you become in the future. Religion can have a big effect on someone's identity. If a person learns to treat others with respect and kindness as they were young, then they might continue to do so when they grow up. A person growing up not caring about anything but themselves could easily make a different choice than a person who was taught differently. A person's identity is their own, they make it and develop it however they choose to.In the Book "The Girls Guide to Hunting and Fishing" the major theme was identity. As Jane (the main character) grew up she experienced many different things such as love, hate, betrayal and death. The book was bacically about a young girl and the troubles she encountered as she grew up. Throughout the book she was trying to find out who she was and where she belonged. In the book Jane explains that being a teenager is hard, right from the beginning, and it doesn't get any easier. She explains that our lives are filled with stress and one of the greatest sources of pressure is school. Another source of pressure is ourselves. We try our hardest to be accepted among a certain group or circle. Where most of the time we are rejected and we become depressed. Through out Jane's life she learned that it is easy to be clean on the outside. All you need is soap and water and a scrubbing brush. It's harder to be clean on the inside.
