WGU C200 Task 1- Leadership Analysis
Personal Leadership Evaluation
After conducting many years of research and collecting data from numerous sources, the Gallup Organization believes that the most effective people are those who understand their strengths and their own tendencies for various behaviors. The CliftonStrengths Assessment is a leadership analysis and assessment tool designed to provide insight into leaders' awareness of their own character by identifying their strengths. My Signature Themes are Command, Communication, Achiever, Competition, and Woo. After reading the results and definitions of each theme, I was not surprised. The Assessment was very accurate and on point.
Command
Command is taking charge, leading people. People who are talented in the Command theme have a very imposing presence and are opinionated. They are able to take control of situations and make decisions, without hesitation. Talented in the Command theme, I do not shy away from confrontation and agree with the assessment that confrontation is the first step toward resolution. I have a very straightforward nature in both business and my private life. I tend to direct group activities and make the final decisions when there is a stalemate or when no one is willing to do so. As a female manager in a male-dominated field, I have to have command and presence to be heard and respected. In my personal life, I have been told that I am intimidating and can be scary because I have such an imposing presence and a very matter-of-fact personality.
Communication
Communication theme is the desire to describe, host, public speak, and write. The idea of bringing events to life with colorful descriptions is exciting. Persons who are gifted in Communication tend to be loquacious and well-spoken. They have the gift of gab and engagement. I am an extremely effective communicator; both written and oral. I enjoy writing: professional or entertainment. Over half of my normal work day is communicating with various customers, vendors, and my employees. I enjoy communication and thrive on the interaction. The communication theme goes hand in hand with the Woo theme that I also scored high in.
Achiever
The Achiever Theme is characterized by hard work and determination. These people are producers and are often stubborn. They want to thrive and accomplish something every day. I am not one to sit around and dream. I am a doer. For example, I was able to obtain my Bachelors degree as a mom of two young children because I wanted to and no one was going to tell me no. My determination borderlines on stubbornness. A task will get accomplished no matter what.
Competition
You compete to win. This statement sums up the Competition Theme. I thrive on competition and winning. I believe that my competitive nature stems from growing up as an athlete. In my leadership, competition is a good thing because it ensures that I am following all policies and procedures in order...
