Purpose: To persuade others to keep abortion legal
1. The most liberating thing as a woman is knowing that you have control over what you do with your body and with your life.  A woman, no matter where you are from, should have the right to do as they please; whether it’s keeping a baby or deciding not to. There are many different circumstances that come with each pregnancy, and it should be our decisions to make. Unfortunately, we live in a world and society where nothing is perfect and bad things happen all around us. Thankfully, at this moment abortion is legal in the United States, though there are restrictions. Yet, in many countries abortion is illegal. We must put a stop to this and make a change for the women around world. The three reasons why abortion should not be illegal are as follow; being financially unstable, rape, and being physically/emotionally incapable.
2. The first reason as to why abortion should be legal is because some women are financially unstable. In 2011, according to the Census Bureau “Almost two-thirds (65 percent) of children, lived in households that participated in at least one or more of the following government aid programs: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Medicaid, and the National School Lunch Program.” An abundance of women that have children are suffering due to their financial state. There are also a number of health websites that have shown case studies where it's proven, when a family is financially unstable parents are far more stressed. In turn, the children pickup on that stress. It is then deemed unhealthy for children because when a young child’s brain is in the developing stages, a constant flooding of stress hormones can lead to the child developing a range of mental illnesses such as depression and PTSD. This also connects with the conception of the child.
3. The second reason why abortion should be legal is because there is a chance that the child that was conceived without both parties having given consent. In other words, rape. Rape is a very serious issue in our country. There were 95,730 rape cases in the U.S. alone in 2016 reported by Statista. It is also reported that the pregnancy rate among those rape cases is approximately 5 percent. Which means that there were almost 5,000 children that may been born due to rape being that abortion is illegal in the areas where they live. The issue with these cases are also the alternative possible outcomes in the event the woman was unable to receive her abortion. In most common cases, the rape itself will cause trauma to the victim, whether it be emotionally, mentally, and or physically. It can take years for someone who's li...
