AbstractIn this paper, I will take a look at some of the terminology and concepts associated with organizational behavior, organizational culture, diversity, communication, effectiveness and efficiency, and learning.Organizational BehaviorOrganizational behavior has been defined as the systematic study of the action and attitudes that people exhibit within organizations or companies. These attitudes and actions need to be shared with everyone within the organization in order for the organization to succeed. Some people may have some resistance and those reasons may vary but they include: perceived limits to decision-making autonomy, perceived fears of reverse discrimination, a fear of change, a denial of demographic realities, and unclear about benefits associated with change.There may also be some barriers or challenges to managing diversity. Some of those may include but not limited to: inaccurate stereotypes and prejudice, unsupportive and hostile work environment, fears of reverse discrimination, diversity not being seen as a priority, and resistance to change. Diversity, if managed positively, can increase creativity and innovation in organizations as well as improve decision making by providing different perspectives on problems that arise.CommunicationI believe that communication is very important within an organization. Communication is the act of transmitting information between individuals. Effective communication is critical to the success of the organization. Communication is most effective when people are willing to work together and do what it takes to get the job done. Communication needs to happen from top to bottom and then back up. In my opinion, the best means of communication is actually listening.
